Dorwest Norwegian Salmon Oil Review: Tested by Dog Professionals

Dorwest Norwegian Salmon Oil earns TDTS Recommended approval

Salmon oil is a popular supplement for dogs, often used to support healthy skin, coat condition and general wellbeing. But how does it perform when used every day by real dog owners?

We put Dorwest Norwegian Salmon Oil to the test through our TDTS Recommended programme, asking members of The Dog Trainer School's professional community to trial the product with their own dogs.

After six weeks, the results were in, and Dorwest Norwegian Salmon Oil achieved an impressive 96.7% overall score, earning its TDTS Recommended Product badge.

How did we test Dorwest Norwegian Salmon Oil?

Our trial involved 30 dogs of different breeds, ages, sizes and dietary backgrounds.

Testers followed the manufacturer's feeding guidance over six weeks and provided feedback on ease of use, dog enjoyment, practical usefulness, value for money and how confidently they would recommend the product.

We also asked them to report any changes they noticed in their dogs' skin, coat, mobility and general wellbeing.

Did dogs enjoy Dorwest Norwegian Salmon Oil?

One of the standout findings was just how well dogs accepted the oil.

27 out of 29 testers (93.1%) rated their dog's willingness to consume the oil 10/10, with the remaining two giving it 8/10.

That's particularly encouraging for owners who struggle to find supplements their dogs will happily eat.

Tester Sophie Ireland summed it up:

“The fact this salmon oil met my fussy dogs approval is a huge achievement for dorwest!”

What improvements did testers notice?

Coat condition was one of the most frequently reported benefits.

16 testers reported improved coat shine, and 16 reported improved coat softness.

Others noticed changes including reduced itching, improved skin comfort and increased energy or mobility.

Bonnie, one of our testers, shared:

“My dog gets very itchy when shedding, adding the salmon oil consistently into his diet at the recommended dosage definitely helped him to be more comfortable.”

Not every dog experienced the same changes, and the findings reflect owners' observations rather than clinical measurements.

Is Dorwest Norwegian Salmon Oil easy to use?

Absolutely one of its strengths.

26 out of 29 testers rated daily ease of use 10/10, with the remaining three scoring it 8 or 9 out of 10.

The pump dispenser was particularly popular, making it simple to add the oil to meals.

There were a few suggestions for improvement, including feedback about the pump becoming oily or leaking, but overall the packaging and convenience received very positive responses.

Is Dorwest Norwegian Salmon Oil good value for money?

Value for money was another strong area.

Testers appreciated the size of the bottle, how long it lasted and the quality of the oil.

Some noted that cheaper alternatives are available, but many felt the product represented good value for its quality and everyday usefulness.

Would dog professionals recommend it?

The product received strong recommendation feedback from our testers.

22 out of 29 testers said they would definitely recommend it, with a further five saying they probably would.

This confidence, combined with the product's excellent acceptance and positive observations during the trial, contributed to its overall TDTS Recommended result.

Our verdict: Is Dorwest Norwegian Salmon Oil worth trying?

Dorwest Norwegian Salmon Oil achieved a 96.7% overall score and has officially earned TDTS Recommended Product status.

Our testers particularly valued its excellent palatability, convenient daily use and the improvements many observed in coat condition and skin comfort.

While individual results varied, the overall feedback was overwhelmingly positive.

Dorwest Norwegian Salmon Oil is now approved to display the TDTS Recommended Product badge for 12 months.
