At The Dog Trainer School, we believe some things are best learned by getting stuck in.
Our in-person training days and events give dog trainers the chance to develop practical skills, try new ideas, ask questions and learn alongside other force-free professionals in a friendly, supportive environment.
From hands-on training weekends and specialist workshops to scent sports and our annual Trainers Forum, everything we run is designed to give you useful, practical learning you can take straight back to your own dogs, classes and clients.
Whether you're just starting out or have years of experience, you'll be very welcome.

After the success of the last few years, we’re excited to announce that our Annual TDTS Forum is back this November.
This is a trainer support and business clarity day for dog trainers at any stage; whether you’re newly qualified, finding your feet, or already established and ready to make the business side feel easier and more intentional.
At The Dog Trainer School, we know most people come into this work because they want to help dogs and their owners, not because they want to become marketing experts or business strategists. The Forum is designed to make that side of things feel clearer, calmer, and more manageable.
You’ll leave with simple ideas you can implement straight away, longer-term direction for the year ahead, and the chance to talk openly with other trainers about what’s working (and what isn’t).
We’ll be joined by a small group of guest speakers, including Rikki (The Canine Copywriter), Katie Ford (Vet Empowered), Holly (the vet), Jen (social media), and Rachel Spencer (Pets Get Visible) alongside sessions from the TDTS team. More details to follow.

Search & Rescue Scent Sports Weekend

Join us for an immersive two-day weekend exploring Search & Rescue as an exciting scent sport for dogs and their handlers.
Working practically with your own dog, you'll develop their Search & Rescue skills while learning how to introduce, teach and progress the activity with your own clients.
Fast-paced, engaging and great fun, Search & Rescue offers something different from more traditional scent activities — with plenty of opportunities to keep both dogs and handlers actively involved.
With access to a fantastic spacious venue and the opportunity to work across different environments, this is a weekend packed with practical learning.

Reactivity Day

Spend a full practical day developing your skills and confidence working with reactive dogs and their owners.
This hands-on training day will explore working with dogs in real-life training situations, adapting your approach to the individual dog and handler, and developing practical strategies you can take straight back into your own work.
You'll have opportunities to learn, ask questions, observe different dogs and handlers, and put skills into practice in a supportive environment.
Handler and spectator spaces are available, with dog spaces limited.

Sequence Games for Dog Trainers
13th June 2027 | Ogilvie Dogs, Lincolnshire
Learn how to create and use sequence games to build confidence, focus and connection between dogs and their handlers.
During this practical day, we'll explore how simple, repeatable sequences can provide greater predictability, help manage arousal and support dogs who find certain situations difficult or overwhelming.
We'll look at how to build and adapt sequences, when and why to use them, and how to create your own games to suit the individual dog and training situation.
We'll also explore established approaches, including Pattern Games developed by Leslie McDevitt through her Control Unleashed programme, and how the principles behind them can be applied creatively within your own training.
Sequence games can be particularly useful when working with reactive dogs, helping to introduce predictability and giving dogs and handlers practical tools they can use when navigating challenging situations. This makes the day a great complement to our Reactivity Day on Saturday, although either day can be booked and attended independently.
Handler and spectator spaces are available, with dog spaces limited.
